Should I Study MBA?

Ask yourselves questions listed  below.
  • Are you tired  with your current job?
  • Do you think your degree meet your current job specification?
  • What is your goal of life?
  • Are you satisfied with your current life? 
  • Do you want to continue complain you can't get a property? Or find solution for it? 
  • What kind of changes you really want

If you have the dream or mindset like Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, Ronald Trump or Tan Sri Tony Fernando,  my recommendation to you is NO .Why? You already understand the value of money and economy. Why step into academic world again?

If you are like KCLau, owner of iMoney or someone like Generations XYZ, my advice is NO. Why? You already applied most of the theories or techniques in life. Why go back to University?

If you are a professional in IT, my advice is NO. Why?  In IT industry, professional certificate and experience worth more than a MBA certificate. You can refer to lowyat.net for more info. There used to be a "Shifu"on lowyat forum sharing his experience on IT professional certificate. I couldn't find back the link.


 Then why study MBA?

My reasons are listed as below.
  • Getting know new people
    • In MBA Class, I get to know new friends from different background. For example, ex Marketing Director from LV, Project Management from Baker Hughes, Banker, Military officer, property developers, logistic officer, EPF officer and many other. 
  • Networking
    •   Knowing someone out of your usual circle of friends really widen your knowledge of different industry. As we are more mature, these different kinds of friends really can help you in any ways you never know

  • Increase your personal value
    • Recently, I read an article on girls with MBA have better opportunity meeting better guys.I lost the article address. True enough, most of the girl studies MBA have broader topic to communicate and more humor. That will be a great opportunity to meeting the right man in class too. However, most of my male classmates are married and not available.

  • Have better understand on business and management theories
    • Theories can read during our free time. However, once you are in MBA class. no matter how busy you are, you will remember those theories and applied in in your daily work. At least now I read more than I watch Anime.
  • Job promotion or salary increment
    • Some job may required MBA for promotion.For salary increment is depend on your job performance and communication skill.
  • Better understanding on business world, world economy and finance
    • I can understand news paper economy section. I used to take that section of newspaper to wrap vegetables. 
  • Government is very supportive for Malaysians to study master degree
    • MyBrain15 is a government initiative to help Malaysians to further study. There are many more other oversea scholarships too. Why not grab the opportunity to increase your knowledge?
     
So, what do you want in life? Is MBA a ticket to improve your future? Are you satisfied with present moment?
