Recently, I helped a lecturer to fix a public laptop. The laptop is infected with worm. It causes all the files in pen drive to be hidden. With my previous experience, I just to solve it as soon as possible. It took me almost 1 hour to solve it.
After the incident, I realized something was not quite right. My classmates were giving me a different look. Then I realized. I was fixing the laptop with projector on. All the process with command and catching worm process was seen in the class for an hour. They focused at the wrong place. It should be on lecturer's speech not on the projector screen.
Moreover, I had totally different characteristic when fixing computer or coding. I called it "serious". If you see my facial expression at that moment, you will have shock. Usually , I am a cheerful and happy go lucky person. When dealing with PC, my second characteristic came out.
My friends described me as murder. The murderous look on my face was very scary. I acknowledged it. I need to be in my world to figure out the solution. Sometime, I was so obsessed. I couldn't get out of that state. The same thing applies to some of the software engineers and IT personnel.
In conclusion, just give space to IT personnel when they are in their world. They are just serious on their work.
